Star Tattoo Designs

Star tattoos are common among both men and women and can have very different yet very significant meanings.  A star tattoo is very versatile and can be designed using a wide variety of colors, patterns, shapes, sizes, and styles. There are so many different styles of star tattoos that you can easily get a unique design.

No matter where you look star tattoos will be on women more than men. This type of tattoo is more of a feminine design than a manly or male design. Girls seem like they get this tattoo in any place on their body, while many places are not that attractive, some places are very attractive. Its important to get your tattoo in the right place, unlike the girl who got 56 stars on her face!

Nautical Stars Tattoo

Nautical star tattoos have long been popular with sailors.  In times long ago, before the convenience of modern navigation systems, sailors relied on the northern star for direction.  They would have the nautical star tattooed in hopes that it would help them return home safely.  It is often seen as a symbol of guidance and protection.

Single Stars Tattoo

Single stars can be both simple and elaborate in style and commonly use a four or six point star.  They can also have shading and 3D effects.  Single stars are a popular choice for wrist and ankle tattoos.

Multiple Stars Tattoo

Star tattoos are also commonly found in clusters.  In this type of design there is usually one larger star, and several smaller stars.  The smaller stars are usually less detailed, while the lager star is more detailed and often done in a different color.  The large star is the center of attention, or the focal point of the tattoo.  Star clusters are a common choice for larger areas such as the lower back, hips, and shoulders.  Clusters of stars are also used to create wrist band and ankle band tattoos.  Multiple star tattoos can be arranged in swirls and lines also.

Star tattoos are suitable for most any color.  You may want to use one single color, or a combination.  Males usually choose to have their stars tattooed either in all black or solid colors, while females tend to lean towards pretty colors and more detailed designs.

Star tattoos are also used to accent other tattoos such as words or fairies, or to accent certain piercing.  Starburst patterns are sometimes used to surround the navel.

Star tattoo can be designed to your specific wants.  There are no set rules on how they should look.  You can choose a design that has a special meaning to you, or one that you just really like the appearance of.  Whatever the case, don’t be afraid to be original.  Make sure the tattoo you get is the tattoo you really want.
